The Great Pumpkin Patch

ImageWhen was the last time you sat on a tractor?  Or got lost in a corn maze? Watched pigs race?  Can’t remember? Never? How about your children?Temecula’s only pumpkin farm reopened for its second fall season.

If the weather allows, taking your kids to pat goats, ride horses or choose a pumpkin is an awesome way to spend the afternoon! Peltzer’s Pumpkin Farm is just short five minute drive into the wine country.

ImageYour kids and your inner child will definitely enjoy running among pumpkins, looking for each other in corn maze and having fun with animals.  Train ride and pony rides are a favorite among kids; adults may enjoy the BBQ and a relaxing afternoon.  I visited with my family and found the sausage and chilli just delicious.

The farm is opened every day from September 27th through October 31st from 9 a.m. till 8 p.m.What is even better are affordable prices and many events are simply free!  We loved our afternoon at the farm and the always worried mom in me was thrilled to see that we can all wash hands after we patted the animals! The Peltzer family put a lot of effort into making this trip a memorable day outside. If you need something to do with the kids and not spend lots of money, then spend a few hours at your local pumpkin farm.

Tips And Hints For the Sand Bunker

ImageSand play is usually one of the last aspects a golfer takes seriously. It may not happen that often and it seems like practice is better spent on something more important. All you need to have though, is a good basic understanding of how to play out of sand and a few tips like these will help in this aspect of your golf short game.

Because every golfer wants to get up and down from greenside sand, there is always a great pressure to hit the ball close from a bunker. The fact is, however, that a top pro who gets up and down half the time is doing very well indeed. For this reason you should not concentrate on hitting sand shots to tap-in range [that is, to within three feet] as you would do for a long putt. Focus instead on hitting to within a target that's 12 to 15 feet in diameter. That gives you up to 7 1/2 feet to play with on each side of the hole can be much easier bull's-eye to deal with. You'll be more relaxed and will hit the ball even closer.

Tai Chi: A closer look
ImageTai chi is a graceful, low-impact exercise that can benefit people of all ages. Practitioners use elegant, controlled movements as they flow from one pose to the next. The practice looks deceptively easy, but every move works the entire body – even moves that seem only to focus on the arms. As Cole explains in the Discover Tai Chi for Beginners DVD, “Tai chi is not just about the arms; it’s about the whole body. The strength of the legs, hips and torso [power each movement].”

Tai chi is a martial art and, like yoga, has many styles. Done quickly, the moves can be used in combat and self-defense. But the discipline is not built on violence. “Tai chi is deflective as opposed to aggressive,” Cole says. “It’s meant to deflect negative energy and use it against the attacker.” For most practitioners, the focus is not on self-defense but on meditation.

Chimney Sweep - Why A Clean Chimney Can Be A Life And Death Matter

ImageHaving a fireplace can be one of life's simple pleasures. Who doesn't like sitting next to the open fire with friends and family? Along with having a fireplace comes the matter of keeping the chimney clean with a chimney sweep. But what is it and why is it so important? Did you know that the leading cause of house fires that have fireplaces in them is a chimney fire? Far too many people die needlessly every year because of a fire that started in a dirty chimney. This is why it's vital to have a chimney sweep every year or at least every 2 years. What is a chimney sweep?

Chimney sweeping is basically taking a brush and sweeping the sides of your chimney from the top all the way down to the bottom. A chimney sweep will break off materials that have built up on the sides of your chimney. When wood burns, it gives off various by products during the burning process. These by products create the black soot you see on the inside of your chimney. This layer of soot is extremely flammable and has to be cleaned out. Can I do it myself? Yes, it is possible for you to clean your chimney yourself, but there are risks involved. Safety is the most important consideration. You will be climbing ladders, going on steep roofs and trying to work through tall chimneys. This job isn't for everyone, that's for sure. Add to this the fact you will get plenty dirty and will need to buy the equipment and you can see that hiring a professional chimney sweep may be your best bet. A chimney cleaning company has the right equipment and knows fireplaces inside out. Plus, it is not overly expensive to have done. Regardless of whichever route you take; be sure to have your fireplace cleaned on a regular basis. A chimney sweep may just save you from a potential disaster.
